The remains were discovered during a conservancy cleanup south of the Baldwin Road bridge.

Overview

  • Human skeletal remains located on Sept. 24 in the Ventura Riverbed were confirmed on Sept. 26 by the Ventura County Medical Examiner to be Zyanya Valora.
  • Investigators reported no obvious signs of lethal trauma, and the cause and manner of death remain under analysis as the case stays active.
  • The discovery site lies roughly two to two and a half miles from Valora’s Mira Monte home, where she was last seen by family in late June 2024.
  • Her parents reported a removed bedroom window screen and a phone connection to public Wi‑Fi around 3 a.m. near Barbara and Oakcrest streets two blocks from the house.
  • Search efforts over the past 15 months included K‑9 tracking near the Oak View Community Center, and the family has asked for privacy following a confirmation post on the Find Zyanya Valora page.
