Remains Found in Texas Creek Confirmed as Missing Fort Worth Flight Attendant

The identification strengthens prosecutors’ evidence and advances pending murder and tampering prosecutions.

Overview

  • Police confirmed late Monday that DNA testing at the University of North Texas identified the human remains found in Montague County as Rana Nofal Soluri.
  • A fisherman discovered the remains along Brushy Creek on June 13 and the remains were recovered by University of North Texas forensic staff for testing.
  • Dennis Day, Soluri’s longtime housemate, was arrested in June 2025, told investigators he strangled her, and is recorded on home surveillance dragging what appears to be a lifeless body from the home.
  • Prosecutors say an inadvertent recording on another person’s phone and other evidence show Day had help moving the body, and Joni Thomas, also known as Joanne Walters, faces a tampering-with-evidence charge.
  • Soluri’s remains were released to her daughter and flown to Seattle for a Muslim burial on Sept. 29 and authorities are still awaiting a pathologist’s official finding on cause and manner of death.
