Remains Found Behind Bellevue Kroger Believed to Be Months Old

Police call the case an isolated incident with no public threat.

Overview

  • Officers were called around 6 p.m. Wednesday to a wooded area behind the Kroger at Donnermeyer Drive and Retreat Street in Bellevue.
  • Investigators believe the remains had been at the location for several months, if not longer, based on a preliminary assessment.
  • An autopsy is pending to determine identification as well as the cause and manner of death, according to Bellevue police.
  • Multiple agencies, including the Campbell County Crime Scene Team and the sheriff’s office, processed the scene and continue to assist the investigation.
  • Residents may still notice an odor due to a dead deer found near the site, and a nearby restaurant worker reported a foul smell for two to three weeks before the discovery.
