Remains Believed to Be Travis Decker Found in Washington Wilderness

DNA testing will confirm the identity pending scene processing.

Overview

  • Authorities say human remains were discovered on Sept. 18 in a remote area south of Leavenworth in the Icicle River drainage.
  • The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office is processing the site with the Washington State Patrol crime scene team and has notified Decker’s family.
  • A months-long search involved local, state and federal agencies including the U.S. Marshals Service and FBI, with a reward of up to $20,000 offered.
  • Decker, 32, was wanted on three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of first-degree kidnapping in connection with his daughters’ deaths.
  • Investigators found the girls on June 2 near Rock Island Campground with plastic bags over their heads and zip ties on their wrists, and DNA from scene evidence and bloody handprints on Decker’s truck matched his profile.
