Religious Leaders Urge Congress to Combat Antisemitism and Support Israel
Leaders representing millions of Christians call for legislative action and the freezing of Iranian funds in response to Hamas terror attack.
- Religious leaders from across the United States have written a letter to Congress urging them to take action against antisemitism and to support Israel, following a terror attack by Hamas on October 7.
- The letter calls for Congress to pass several pieces of legislation, including the 'Countering Hate Against Israel by Federal Contractors Act' and the 'Antisemitism Awareness Act'.
- The faith leaders also demand that the U.S. government freeze $6 billion of Iranian funds that were released as part of a hostage deal in 2023.
- The leaders also call for support to Israel's efforts to 'degrade and destroy' Hamas and 'Palestinian Islamic Jihad' in Gaza, and to help Israel with its Iron Dome protection.
- The faith leaders represent between 40 and 60 million Evangelical Christians and believe their letter will have a 'tremendous impact'.
