Reju Picks Rochester Site for First U.S. Textile-to-Textile Regeneration Hub

The plan remains contingent on a final investment decision by Technip Energies.

Overview

  • The facility will occupy 18.9 acres at Eastman Business Park in Rochester, New York.
  • Reju targets output equivalent to 300 million garments per year, producing about 50,000 metric tons of BHET for repolymerization into polyester.
  • The company pegs the investment at roughly $390 million and projects about 70 new jobs at the site.
  • Operations are targeted for 2029, with remediation of the industrial property planned before construction and the repolymerization location still to be decided.
  • The hub would join a Frankfurt demonstration plant and a planned site in Sittard, using technology developed with Technip Energies and IBM Research that the company says cuts polyester’s carbon footprint by about 50%.
