- Police stopped Anthony Hall on the M6 near Junction 44, Carlisle after officers saw his Vauxhall Meriva drifting between lanes and toward the hard shoulder during a night-time journey.
- Hall told officers he had driven about 150 miles from Huddersfield on June 29 by following lorry taillights after taking his partner’s car without permission.
- An evidential breath test at the police station recorded 46 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, above the legal limit of 35 mcg.
