Regional Education Unrest Intensifies: Argentina Sets Oct. 14 Teacher Strike, Mexico Teachers Block Highways

  • Argentina’s CTERA capped a nationwide day of protest on Oct. 8 and formally confirmed a 24‑hour national strike with mobilization for Oct. 14 over pay, a new education financing law, restoration of FONID and a reconvened national wage bargaining table.
  • The Buenos Aires provincial front FUDB and unions including SUTEBA, FEB, AMET, SADOP and UDOCBA backed the plan of action, with local walkouts and caravans reported in multiple cities such as La Plata, Bahía Blanca and Córdoba.

  • In Peru, university student blocs formalized participation in an Oct. 15 national stoppage aligned with transport workers confronting extortion, while Mexican transport groups separately announced fresh highway and agency protests for Oct. 22.
