Regional CSDs Draw Crowds in Oranienburg, Görlitz and Wacken Under Tight Security

Organisers in smaller towns say local Pride events build visibility where safe spaces remain scarce.

Overview

  • Oranienburg staged a march under the motto “Sicher leben – sichtbar lieben,” with 500 to 1,500 participants registered, according to organiser Candy Boldt-Händel.
  • Hundreds joined the CSD in Görlitz as roughly 100 right-wing demonstrators rallied separately, with police reporting no clashes.
  • Police in Görlitz time-staggered the two processions and kept about 200 meters between them to prevent contact, a spokesman said.
  • Wacken held its first-ever CSD, with organisers counting more than 350 participants, while police had not yet confirmed attendance figures.
  • Reports note recent attempts by right-wing groups to disrupt CSDs, including protests in Bernau and Falkensee in July, as the regional series continues toward a finale in Cottbus on October 25.
