Regional 112 Liveblogs Record Multiple Crashes, Fires and Stabbings

Investigations are under way into incidents including suspected drunk driving, a forensic probe of a burned car, a stabbing that sent a victim to hospital.

Overview

  • Regional public broadcasters ran rolling 112 liveblogs on 22–23 August that compiled reports of traffic accidents, small fires, water incidents and violent episodes across Utrecht, Gelderland and South Holland.
  • Police reported arrests after a morning fight in Utrecht and after a rollover in Apeldoorn where the driver was held on suspicion of driving under the influence.
  • In Rotterdam’s Eendrachtsstraat a person was stabbed on Saturday night, taken to hospital and police recovered a knife at the scene as inquiries continue.
  • A driver in Rotterdam-Vreewijk lost control and caused extensive street damage; 112-correspondents said the driver appeared under the influence and nitrous oxide was found in the car.
  • Fire services contained a fully burned car in Asperen that is now subject to forensic sporenonderzoek, brought a smouldering flat fire in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel under control with a short evacuation, and helped a boat taking on water in Loenen aan de Vecht until the situation stabilised.
