• Officers responded to a report of gunfire on Aug. 20 on Burton Lane in Southaven and found Carroll with gunshot wounds.
• He was transported to Regional One Health in Memphis, where life-saving measures failed and he died.
• Southaven Police said on Aug. 23 that a male is in custody and charged with Carroll’s murder, with the investigation continuing.
• Police have not released the suspect’s name or a possible motive.
• Carroll, known as the “Knockout King of Comedy,” toured nationally, appeared on Showtime at the Apollo and The Parkers, and drew tributes from Mo’Nique, Mobtown Comedy, and his brother, who requested privacy.
