Redundancy Notices Issued for 125 at Lindsey Oil Refinery

The Official Receiver said the timing was intended to give staff maximum notice during an ongoing effort to secure a sale.

Overview

  • Employees were told 125 roles will end at the close of October at the Prax-owned site in North Killingholme.
  • Another 255 staff will remain employed, with the energy minister saying the majority of the workforce is expected to stay beyond 31 October.
  • The Official Receiver confirmed multiple bids are being evaluated with the aim of selling the business, with each proposal being assessed on an equal footing.
  • Unite says there are at least two bids to keep the refinery operating and claims a preferred bidder may seek to mothball the site and convert it to storage, which it warns would cut jobs.
  • The Insolvency Service says the site remains safe and confirmed that the conduct of the company and its directors is under active investigation.
