Julian Aguiar, 23, was placed on the 15-day injured list retroactive to September 21 due to a right elbow sprain.
Aguiar ends his season with a 2-1 record and a 6.25 ERA over seven starts since his MLB debut on August 19.
Ian Gibaut, 30, has been activated from the 60-day IL after missing the entire season due to a right forearm strain and subsequent surgery.
Alan Busenitz, 34, was designated for assignment and outrighted to Triple-A Louisville after posting a 13.50 ERA in four innings this season.
Gibaut made 74 appearances for the Reds last season, logging a 3.33 ERA and earning 22 holds and three saves.
