Overview
- The dataset compiled by cinch shows 351,244 failures to stop at red lights recorded by 26 police forces from 2023 to 2025, with a further 33,951 offences in January–March 2026.
- Recorded offences climbed each year, rising from 101,184 in 2023 to 139,139 in 2025, a 37.5% increase across the responding forces.
- London’s Metropolitan Police logged 187,261 offences — more than half of the total — a figure experts say reflects high traffic volumes and a dense network of traffic cameras.
- Several non‑London forces reported very large percentage increases, for example Humberside (299 to 2,004) and West Mercia (426 to 2,697), changes that may stem from new camera deployment or stepped‑up enforcement as well as driver behaviour.
