Overview
- Redfin launched the integration with childcare marketplace Winnie on Aug. 17, and the feature is live on Redfin’s desktop and mobile websites with an app rollout for iOS and Android scheduled by the end of September.
- Each for-sale listing now previews up to five nearby licensed programs within a 10-mile radius and links to full Winnie profiles that include ages served, distance, hours, languages, reviews and whether financial aid is listed.
- Winnie builds profiles from public state licensing databases and has more than 250,000 program pages but only about one quarter have been claimed by providers and many pages do not list tuition or current slot availability.
- Redfin’s research using its own data and Winnie’s shows housing plus childcare equal roughly 52% of a typical working family’s income nationwide with large metro gaps, for example about 39.8% in Little Rock versus roughly 96.8% in Los Angeles.
- The tool is intended to change home search decisions by revealing childcare deserts and costs near a property, and it could push more providers to post prices online while buyers still must confirm day-to-day availability on Winnie before committing.
