Michael Rasmussen scored the go-ahead goal with 1:07 remaining, redirecting the puck off his left skate and into the Ducks’ goal off a pass from Moritz Seider.
Dylan Larkin and Joe Veleno also scored for the Red Wings, and Alex Lyon made 29 saves.
Trevor Zegras scored both goals for the Ducks, who completed an eight-game homestand 1-6-1.
The Red Wings return home to face the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday, while the Ducks begin a six-game road trip in Nashville on Tuesday.
