Overview
- On August 8, the Detroit Red Wings placed the Hockeytown wordmark at center ice of Little Caesars Arena to kick off their 100th NHL season.
- Fans cast over 20,000 ballots in the first 72 hours of the Meijer-backed vote, selecting the version that restored the iconic Hockeytown script.
- The new logo layers a redrawn 1934 Winged Wheel and a modern “100” motif in the team’s red and vintage white palette beneath the Hockeytown lettering.
- This center-ice update is part of the “100 Years of Hockeytown” centennial initiative, which also features special events, a museum exhibit and a commemorative uniform.
- The Red Wings have not decided whether the wordmark will remain after 2025–26 and hope the branding revival helps end their nine-year playoff drought.
