Red SUV Crashes Into Monson Campground Swimming Pool

  • At about 1:05 p.m. on July 20, a red Hyundai SUV drove through a chain-link fence into the 33×50-foot pool at Sunsetview Farm Camping Area in Monson, Massachusetts.
  • First responders evaluated four swimmers and two vehicle occupants on site and reported no injuries.
  • Off-duty firefighters from Wales, Palmer and Springfield assisted Monson fire crews during the response.
  • Sunsetview Farm Camping Area has operated as a family-run campground since 1970 in Hampden County, about 15 miles from Springfield.
  • Campground officials have closed the pool for structural and oil contamination checks and Monson police are investigating what caused the driver to veer off course.
