Red Sox Truck Day Departs Fenway for Fort Myers

The convoy marks the unofficial start of spring training, with a brief Worcester stop planned en route.

  • Trucks were loaded at Fenway in the morning and are set to leave between late morning and noon for the roughly 1,400-mile trip to JetBlue Park in Fort Myers.
  • This year’s haul includes 20,400 baseballs, about 1,100 bats, 200 batting gloves, 200 batting helmets, uniforms, 20 cases of bubble gum and 60 cases of sunflower seeds.
  • A flatbed leading the convoy features Wally the Green Monster, Tessie and Fenway Ambassadors tossing soft Red Sox baseballs to fans.
  • A short stop in Worcester at Polar Park around 12:45 p.m. has been reported for fans to see the truck and WooSox mascot crew.
  • Pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to Fort Myers in eight days, with the full squad following five days later as spring workouts begin.
