Red Sox Trade for Catcher Blake Sabol from Giants

Sabol has appeared in 121 career MLB games, batting .243 with 13 home runs and 44 RBIs, and has experience at multiple positions including catcher and outfield.
The Giants traded Sabol to the Red Sox in exchange for international bonus pool allocation, a resource used to sign international prospects.
To accommodate Sabol on their 40-man roster, the Red Sox designated right-handed pitcher Chase Shugart for assignment.
Shugart, 28, debuted in MLB in 2024, posting a 4.15 ERA over six relief appearances and also pitching extensively in Triple-A Worcester.
