Overview

  • National Weather Service warnings are in effect from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday for areas from Boulder County through Pueblo, including parts of western Denver.
  • Forecasts call for gusts around 55 mph with occasional higher peaks near exposed foothills and relative humidity dropping to roughly 11–15 percent.
  • The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office has prohibited open and agricultural burning and urged residents to avoid any spark‑producing activity.
  • Most of the Front Range is abnormally dry or in moderate drought, increasing the chance that small ignitions could spread rapidly.
  • A colder system is expected Thursday into Friday with snow and a sharp cooldown that should ease fire danger but may cause slick travel, especially Thursday evening.
