Overview

  • The cuts affect about 6% of Recruit’s HR technology staff, amounting to roughly 1,300 roles across Indeed and Glassdoor.
  • Glassdoor will be folded into Indeed to streamline its job-search and employer-review services under a single platform.
  • Glassdoor CEO Christian Sutherland-Wong will leave on October 1 and Indeed’s chief people and sustainability officer LaFawn Davis will step down on September 1, with Recruit COO Ayano Senaha succeeding Davis.
  • The layoffs are concentrated in U.S. research and development, growth, and people and sustainability teams, but span multiple functions and regions.
  • This marks the third major round of reductions since 2023 as Recruit executes its AI-first strategy under CEO Hisayuki Idekoba.
