Record UFO Sightings in 2024 Linked to Starlink Satellites

Germany's CENAP reports a surge in UFO reports, with most attributed to Elon Musk's satellite network and other identifiable phenomena.

The Centrale Erforschungs-Netz außergewöhnlicher Himmels-Phänomene (CENAP) recorded 1,084 UFO reports in 2024, the highest number since its founding in 1973.
Most sightings were attributed to Starlink satellites, which are particularly visible shortly after launch, appearing as a 'string of pearls' in the night sky.
Other reported phenomena included bright planets like Venus and Jupiter, LED and foil balloons, drones, aircraft, and meteorological events.
The increase in reports is partially attributed to the widespread availability of smartphone cameras, which make it easier for people to capture and share unusual sights.
CENAP confirmed that none of the sightings in 2024 involved extraterrestrial spacecraft, continuing its streak of scientifically explainable cases.
