Record Snowfall Disrupts Moscow's Roads and Airports

Over 130,000 people mobilized for snow-clearing efforts as Siberian region reports extreme temperatures.

Record snowfall has hit Moscow, bringing an additional 23 centimeters (nine inches) to already high levels of snow.
Disruptions have been reported on roads and at three out of four Moscow airports, with 53 flights delayed and five canceled.
About 135,000 people and 18,000 pieces of equipment were involved in the snow-clearing effort.
Nearly 200 trucks got stuck in the snow over the past 24 hours, requiring assistance from road traffic workers.
Heavy snow and temperatures below -50 C (-58 F) were also reported in the Siberian region of Yakutia.
