Record Russian Aerial Barrage Hits Kyiv, Damages Ukraine’s Cabinet Building

Kyiv urges expanded air defenses after a record aerial barrage damaged the Cabinet building.

Overview

  • Ukraine reported that Russia launched about 805–810 Shahed drones plus 13 missiles in the largest air attack since the invasion began.
  • Air defenses said they downed roughly 747–751 drones and four missiles, yet strikes and falling debris caused damage at more than 30 sites, including the government complex’s upper floors.
  • Officials reported at least five deaths nationwide, including an infant, and dozens injured as residential towers and infrastructure burned in Kyiv, Odesa, Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia and other regions.
  • The barrage included Iskander-K cruise and Iskander-M ballistic missiles, and air-raid alerts in the capital lasted more than 11 hours.
  • Ukrainian leaders called for more air-defense systems and tougher energy sanctions; Russia said it hit military-industrial and transport targets, and President Trump said he is ready to consider a new sanctions round.
