Record Number of Migrants Die in Shipwrecks off Tunisian Coast

Tunisian authorities have retrieved 41 bodies from the sea, bringing the death toll from migrant shipwrecks to 210 in just over a week.
The bodies were badly decomposed, indicating they had been in the water for days.
Most of the victims were from sub-Saharan Africa, Syria, and Sudan, trying to reach Italy from Tunisia.
The surge in migrant boats is due in part to Libya cracking down on migrant departures, forcing more to leave from Tunisia.
