  • Thirteen of Italy’s 15 coastal regions have logged at least one Caretta caretta nest this season, marking the widest nesting spread on record.
  • Southern hotspots lead the surge, with Sicily accounting for over 200 nests, Calabria about 130, Campania 103 and Puglia 64.
  • Central and northern regions are also seeing historic upticks, including 27 nests in Tuscany, 17 in Lazio and 11 in Liguria.
