Overview
- After about 20 months of work costing nearly €30 million, the renovation reshaped the lower third of the track with a lengthened out-run, a new women’s start and a new finish house.
- Test runs were cut short and many were conducted from the old women’s start at roughly 30 km/h lower speed, with Olympic champion David Gleirscher warning full-start runs would currently be too dangerous.
- Officials pinpointed the section from Curve 13 through the exit of Curve 14 as the weak spot, with the entry to Curve 14 deemed too wide and a temporary wooden plank used to force a safer line.
- The ÖRV and ÖBSV said they are working with the FIL, the IBSF and operator Olympia World on rapid structural adjustments ahead of a re-inspection scheduled for November 14–16.
- The IBSF bob and skeleton World Cup slated for November 28–30 in Tyrol and the FIL luge World Cup on December 6–7 remain uncertain pending approval of the rebuilt track.
