Rebel Energy Ceases Trading, Affecting 90,000 Customers

Rebel Energy, a UK energy supplier with around 90,000 customers, has ceased trading as of April 1, 2025.
Ofgem has assured affected customers that their energy supply will continue uninterrupted and credit balances are protected under its Supplier of Last Resort (SoLR) mechanism.
The regulator is working to appoint new suppliers and advises customers to await contact from their new provider before switching or canceling direct debits.
Rebel Energy's collapse follows a provisional order by Ofgem in March 2025 for non-compliance with renewable energy obligations.
This development coincides with a rise in the energy price cap, adding to financial pressures on households already grappling with high energy costs.
