• Rebecca Mann became the first person to complete the 40-mile Maui Nui Tri-Channel Crossing nonstop, finishing between Maui, Molokai and Lanai in 21 hours in 2019.
• During the swim her saltwater-induced swelling closed her nostrils and uvula, forcing her to breathe through her mouth and struggle to swallow for days.
• She maintained a twenty-minute feeding schedule of liquid fuel prepared by her mother and managed panic attacks triggered by her OCD.
• Six months after the swim she began experiencing recurring lucid dreams of being stranded in shark-infested waters without support.
• Following the publication of her memoir and a young-adult novel, Mann is preparing to return to competitive swimming after a five-year hiatus.
