- Commissioned on 1 July 1993, Dahiya specializes in Navigation and Direction and is an alumnus of the Naval Academy in Mandovi, King’s College London, the Naval War College in Goa, and the National Defence College in New Delhi.
- His afloat assignments included Navigating Officer roles on INS Kora, Delhi, Godavari, Mumbai, and the aircraft carrier Viraat, followed by a tenure as the Western Fleet’s Fleet Navigating Officer.
- He previously commanded the missile corvette INS Karmuk and the guided missile destroyer INS Chennai and most recently served as Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Staff Requirements) since 16 November 2023.
