Reality TV Couple Sues Los Angeles Over Palisades Fire Devastation

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag claim water system failures exacerbated the wildfire that destroyed their home and thousands of others.

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, along with over 20 other plaintiffs, have filed a lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles and its Department of Water and Power (LADWP) following the destruction of their home in the Palisades Fire.
The lawsuit alleges that the Santa Ynez Reservoir, which had been out of service since February 2024 for repairs, left the area with insufficient water for firefighting efforts.
Fire hydrants in the Pacific Palisades reportedly ran dry within 12 hours, as three water tanks holding a total of 3 million gallons were quickly depleted.
The plaintiffs accuse LADWP of prioritizing cost-saving measures over public safety by operating the water system without the reservoir and delaying repairs.
The Palisades Fire, fueled by extreme drought and strong winds, has killed 28 people, destroyed more than 12,000 structures, and sparked multiple lawsuits over alleged failures in fire preparedness and response.
