Real Madrid and Brazil Legend Marcelo Retires at 36

The decorated left-back ends a 19-year career with 25 Real Madrid trophies and a Copa Libertadores title with Fluminense.

Marcelo, a former Real Madrid and Brazil defender, announced his retirement at age 36 in a video shared on social media.
During his 15-year tenure at Real Madrid, Marcelo won 25 titles, including five Champions League trophies and six LaLiga championships.
He concluded his playing career with Fluminense, his boyhood club, winning the Copa Libertadores in 2023 before leaving in late 2024.
Marcelo earned 58 caps for Brazil, participating in two World Cups and winning the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, as well as Olympic silver and bronze medals.
In his retirement announcement, Marcelo expressed gratitude and a commitment to continue contributing to football in new ways.
