Overview

• The teen was struck around 8:30 p.m. Monday in the 4100 block of Hillbank Road when a northbound Honda Civic lost control.
• The car hit the family group before crashing into a telephone pole, according to Shawnigan Lake RCMP.
• The 17-year-old driver and 17-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
• BC RCMP say alcohol is not suspected and identify speed as an important factor in the collision.
• A collision analyst from the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP is assisting, and anyone with information is asked to call 250-743-5514.
