RCMP Releases Photos in Nanaimo German Shepherd Abuse Case

B.C. SPCA investigators have the power under the province's cruelty act to pursue charges over the alleged dog beating.

Overview

  • On August 5, the Nanaimo RCMP released handout images of a man and his dog captured in a witness photo while soliciting public help to identify the suspect.
  • The alleged abuse took place July 27 around 6:30 p.m. in the 200-block of Selby Road when a passerby saw the man punch and kick a German Shepherd cross.
  • The suspect is described as approximately 5'11" and 175 pounds with tanned skin, dark hair in a ponytail, a mustache and a trimmed beard, and was carrying a skateboard.
  • The dog is believed to be a black, tan and white German Shepherd cross with a white-tipped tail and was last seen walking southbound on Selby Road.
