RCMP Investigations Underway After Fatal Motorcycle Crashes on Highways 101 and 104
RCMP collision reconstruction units are processing wreckage to clarify the causes of the crashes.
Overview
- On July 1 at about 1:35 p.m., a westbound Dodge Journey and an eastbound Honda motorcycle collided head-on near Purdy Road in Deep Brook, killing the 64-year-old rider and his 63-year-old passenger from Bear River East.
- The driver of the SUV, a 51-year-old man from Meteghan River, was airlifted to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
- On July 3 at around 6:15 p.m., a 61-year-old man from Amherst was pronounced dead after his westbound motorcycle left the roadway and came to rest in the median on Highway 104 in Salt Springs.
- Police, firefighters and paramedics attended both scenes and temporarily closed lanes to allow RCMP collision reconstructionists to gather evidence.
- RCMP have appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage as investigations remain active to determine the sequence of events in each crash.
