RCMP Identifies 2017 Salmon Arm Remains as Missing Woman Nicole Bell

No public safety risk exists after the suspect’s death with investigators seeking additional offenders in Bell’s death as well as Genereaux’s killing.

Nicole Bell's family released this picture of her at Christmas in 2017. They hoped their holiday plea for information would help find their daughter who had been missing for more than three months at this point.

Overview

  • A rural Salmon Arm property led to the discovery of human remains on May 5, later confirmed March 21 by the BC Coroners Service as those of Nicole Bell.
  • Bell, 31, disappeared near Sicamous on September 2, 2017, and investigators classified her case as a homicide from early on.
  • Authorities believe Curtis Sagmoen, found dead in April at a Vernon motel, is the prime suspect in Bell’s death.
  • Sagmoen was also identified as the person of interest in the 2017 killing of Traci Genereaux after her remains were unearthed on a nearby farm.
  • RCMP says Sagmoen’s death removed any public safety risk but the Major Crimes Unit is probing for additional offenders and seeking public tips on both cases.
