RCMP Dismantle Major Dark Web Drug Network in Ontario as Seven Arrested

Data from a German marketplace takedown set the probe in motion.

Overview

  • Ontario search warrants yielded about 75 kilograms of cocaine, MDMA, methamphetamine, heroin and ketamine, plus roughly 10,000 tablets, electronic devices and packaging branded “RoadRunna.”
  • Police identified a vendor using the handle “RoadRunna,” alleging the network shipped around 400 packages each week across Canada using mail services with cryptocurrency payments.
  • The investigation was launched by the RCMP Cybercrime Unit in Vancouver before being transferred to investigators in the Milton area.
  • Seven men from the Greater Toronto Area, ages 30 to 46, were charged with conspiracy, trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking and weapons offences.
  • The RCMP characterize the case as one of Canada’s largest dark web drug operations and say the multi-agency investigation remains active with international partners.
