Overview
- On Aug. 5, Parkland and Spruce Grove RCMP laid multiple assault charges against two former staff following a five-month probe into alleged child assaults.
- Dimpy Bawa, 32, faces two counts of assault with a weapon and two counts of assault; Shivani Shivani, 29, is charged with two counts of assault.
- The alleged incidents occurred on Feb. 19 and involved at least four children aged one to three, with RCMP warning that more victims may emerge.
- Both accused were dismissed from the centre when the allegations surfaced and are scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 17 in Stony Plain.
- In March, Alberta’s Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Trade placed the centre on a probationary licence and removed its infant care privileges over safety concerns.
