Overview
- Royal Challengers Bengaluru formally wrote to the KSCA proposing an AI-enabled surveillance network of 300 to 350 cameras at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
- RCB said the system, supplied by Gurugram-based Staqu, would provide real-time entry–exit tracking, detect unauthorised access and incidents, and improve queue discipline to aid police response.
- The franchise committed to cover the entire one-time cost, estimated at approximately ₹4.5 crore.
- The initiative follows the June 4, 2025 stampede that killed 11 people and led officials to deem the venue unfit for large gatherings, costing it matches in the 2025 Women’s World Cup and 2026 T20 World Cup.
- With approvals still outstanding, reports indicate RCB is in contingency talks to stage IPL 2026 home games at neutral venues such as Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil, Raipur, and Pune, and a state task-force report is expected on Saturday.
