RBSE Moves Class 10 Exams to Twice a Year

The board says the change will reduce exam pressure by offering a built-in second chance with final marks based on higher subject-wise scores.

Overview

  • The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education announced on Tuesday that Class 10 and Praveshika exams will be held twice a year from the 2026–27 session with a compulsory main exam in February–March and a second improvement exam in May or May–June.
  • Students may reattempt up to three subjects in the improvement exam and the board will prepare final mark sheets by taking the higher mark for each subject from the two sittings.
  • The existing supplementary system will be discontinued and mark sheets will not carry negative labels such as “failed” or “supplementary.”
  • Under the notification, students who score below 33% in up to two subjects or who miss one paper and score below 33% in another are eligible for Essential Improvement while those with three or more failures or absences cannot sit the second exam.
  • The board has issued the official rules but schools must finalize exact dates and administrative steps and must inform students and parents before the main February–March 2027 examination.
