RBI Enables Account Aggregator Interoperability and Lets CAS Include Bank Deposits

The central bank says the changes will let people view consented deposit and securities holdings together in a single dashboard by December 31, 2026.

Overview

  • The RBI announced on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026 that it will implement interoperability among NBFC-Account Aggregators and will facilitate SEBI-regulated depositories to include bank deposit details in Consolidated Account Statements.
  • Interoperability will let customers use any licensed NBFC-Account Aggregator to pull financial data held with different providers so a single aggregator can show accounts from many institutions.
  • The CAS change will allow demat holders to see their securities and bank deposit information in one consolidated statement and will let customers without demat accounts still obtain and share consolidated data through Account Aggregators.
  • Both measures carry a firm implementation deadline of December 31, 2026 and will require technical updates and coordination among AAs, depositories, banks and other regulated firms.
  • The RBI will also set up a Technical Consultative Committee for Financial Markets to formalize engagement with market participants as the consent-based Account Aggregator system, launched in 2016, is expanded.
