RB Salzburg created the position of sporting CEO to address increasing demands in areas such as transfers, player development, and scouting.
Schröder will initially work alongside Salzburg's current sporting director, Bernhard Seonbuchner, as part of the new leadership structure.
Leipzig has not yet announced a replacement for Schröder, as the club navigates a period of sporting and organizational uncertainty.
