Overview
- Club and player representatives have started formal discussions in mid-October 2026 after a period with no intensive talks, but no agreement has been announced.
- Raum has publicly confirmed the talks and said he is weighing his future with input from his wife and advisors while pledging to keep leading the team on performance and mentality.
- Reports link FC Barcelona with interest in signing Raum on a free transfer, but that remains an unconfirmed rumor reported by media outlets.
- A contract renewal would raise Raum’s standing and salary at Leipzig and would remove the club’s risk of losing a key left-back and captain for no fee in summer 2027.
- The coming months of the 2026–27 season will be decisive for both sides as Leipzig seeks clarity to plan replacements and Raum balances sporting factors under coach Martin Demichelis with personal and career considerations.
