Razer Releases Wolverine V4 Controllers With New Capacitive Thumbsticks

Razer says the capacitive/magnetic thumbstick sensors and an 8,000 Hz PC polling option are designed to boost competitive responsiveness while independent testing is still needed.

Overview

  • Both Wolverine V4 models went on sale Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, with the wireless V4 Pro priced at $199.99 and the wired Tournament Edition at $99.99.
  • Razer replaced TMR and Hall modules with custom capacitive/magnetic thumbstick sensors paired to a 16-bit ADC that the company says register about 3,000 steps for finer stick resolution.
  • The V4 Pro offers an 8,000 Hz polling rate when used on PC but is limited to 250 Hz on Xbox Series X|S because of platform constraints.
  • The flagship adds modular magnetic parts, four swappable back buttons, adjustable Pro HyperTriggers with 1.3–8.2 mm actuation, and four onboard profiles managed through Razer Synapse.
  • Reviewers noted Razer removed the premium carry case from the V4 Pro package and emphasized that independent side‑by‑side testing will determine whether the new sensor design meaningfully outperforms industry standard TMR sticks and influences other makers.
