Raytheon UK Completes Paveway IV Typhoon Trials With Italian Mk82 Warhead

The July live-fire campaign at RAF Marham and Aberporth aimed to certify the RWM Italia Mk82 for the platform.

Overview

  • Raytheon UK announced on September 8 that Paveway IV integration trials on the Eurofighter Typhoon concluded successfully after a July test series in the UK.
  • Events spanned weapon and platform training, mission-planning simulations, cross-force tactical integration, and live-fire drills over the MOD Aberporth range.
  • RWM Italia, a Rheinmetall company, facilitated the effort and supplied the Mk82-class warhead now fitted to the 500 lb-class, dual-mode Paveway IV.
  • Raytheon UK’s James Gray and Combat Air Deputy Force Commander Capt RN Deavin said the results strengthen allied defence cooperation and NATO interoperability.
  • Photographs and reporting indicated Italian Air Force Typhoons participated in the July activities at RAF Marham carrying live Paveway IV bombs.
