Rays Star Shortstop Wander Franco Benched for Poor Team Behavior

Franco has repeatedly shown frustration through actions like throwing equipment, not running out ground balls, and arguing.
Manager Kevin Cash benched Franco for at least two games citing that Franco has not handled his frustrations well and has not been the best teammate.
Franco signed the largest contract in Rays history, 11 years and $182 million guaranteed, in November 2021.
Despite his behavior issues, Franco has helped lead the Rays to the best record in baseball so far this season.
The Rays organization continues to support Franco and look forward to having him back after he works through his behavior problems.
