Overview

  • Tampa Bay placed Jonathan Aranda on the 10-day injured list after an MRI confirmed a fracture in his left wrist from Friday’s collision with Giancarlo Stanton.
  • Manager Kevin Cash said Aranda’s wrist will remain immobilized under a cast for roughly three weeks before a follow-up MRI can establish a comeback schedule.
  • To fill the gap at first base, the Rays shifted Yandy Díaz to the position, reinstated Ha-Seong Kim from the injured list and called up Tristan Gray from Triple-A Durham.
  • Aranda had been batting .316 with 12 home runs and 54 RBIs in 103 games this season, strengthening an offense already hit by injuries to Chandler Simpson and Yandy Díaz.
  • The Rays open a home series against the Dodgers without their All-Star first baseman pending his MRI results.
