Raw Cat Food Recalled Over Bird Flu Contamination Risk

Wild Coast Raw's chicken formula for cats is being pulled from shelves after testing linked it to H5N1 infections in pets.

The FDA announced a voluntary recall of Wild Coast Raw's frozen Boneless Free Range Chicken Formula due to potential bird flu contamination.
Recalled products include lot numbers #22660, #22653, #22641, #22639, #22672, and #22664, all with a Best By date of December 2025.
Testing in Washington and Oregon confirmed the same H5N1 strain in infected cats and the recalled pet food, with one cat euthanized and another treated by a veterinarian.
Pet owners are advised to discard the product securely, monitor their pets for symptoms like lethargy, respiratory issues, or neurological signs, and contact a veterinarian if these occur.
While no human infections have been reported, the FDA warns handlers to sanitize surfaces and watch for symptoms such as eye irritation, respiratory issues, or fever.
