Ratiopharm recalls Melperon 25 mg tablets over visible fractures

  • The recall covers multiple lot numbers across 20-, 50- and 100-tablet packages, including B61902A/B67554B for 20-unit packs and B61902B, B61903A, B67554A and B67554C for 50-unit packs
  • Melperon is a butyrophenone neuroleptic used to treat sleep disorders, confusion and restlessness and is currently listed as in short supply by Germany’s BfArM
  • Manufacturer Aristo reports ongoing production issues that will keep 50 mg tablets scarce until end-June and 100 mg tablets scarce until end-October
  • Healthcare professionals are advising patients affected by the shortage to consider other medications or herbal remedies to manage sleep disturbances
